Dear Parents,

As an educator of Preschoolers, I have always felt the need to arouse a student’s curiosity. I take great pride in sharing my experience while engaging with young inquisitive minds. It’s no secret that curiosity makes learning more effective, enjoyable and keeps students engaged. Curiosity prepares the brain for learning. During the formative years, curiosity and imaginative play are especially important for a child and helps them remember concepts better when the learning experience is a pleasure. To help foster curiosity, I suggest these 2 tips:

• Wonder aloud- When we say out loud, “I wonder why is it raining!”, we are modeling what it means to be curious.
• Redirect and answer questions simply and clearly- Always ask the child first what their thoughts are before answering with the simplest truth. Use open-ended questions to start a dialogue.
